The Water Efficiency Labeling Scheme (WELS) is an initiative of the Public Utilities Board (PUB), Singapore's national water agency. The objectives of WELS are to enable consumers to conserve Singapore's scarce water resources, and to encourage manufacturers to produce more water-efficient products. The scheme is implemented through labels that indicate the water efficiency of a product. The four categories in the rating schematic are: zero tick, good, very good and excellent. The flow rate and flush capacity of a product are integral to determining its rating capacity. In addition to the products' water consumption, its brand, model and registration number are also displayed on the label. For more information visit www.pub.gov.sg/wels
